The three regions of production are the West, Centre and East.
Carpets of cities are primarily from the western regions while nomads are predominant in Eastern Turkey.

The warp and weft are wool in most villages and nomadic carpets. The frame is often dyed red, but also available in Brown and yellow.

Dyes and colors correspond to the chromatic scale. Colors like purple, yellow, orange, green, and salmon characterize the carpet. Red-violet is extracted from cochineal. Chestnuts are very corrosive.
