In Pakistan, numerous workshops and factories were created to produce carpets for export of large surface. The major centres are Karachi and Lahore. Because of the cheap cost of hand of local work and the assistance to export granted by the Government, the price of these productions are low. Great finesse of knotting (concentration ranging from 2000 to 4000 nodes/dm² when it comes to wool and up to 8000 nodes for a work silk) these carpets are devoid of originality and decors are borrowed from other regions. It should be noted that currently there is a large production of so-called carpet "silk" which correspond, in reality, the rayon and artificial silk, which can mislead the purchaser and has, obviously, affect the value.
